He is a past Board Director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC)\, founded by Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. He currently serves as Chairman of the Annual Martin Luther King\, Jr. Scholarship and Legacy Awards Committee's Dinner\, the largest King celebration in Johnson County\, which awards people in the fields of law enforcement\, sports\, media and journalism and community involvement.
