East Forty Brewing Brings Home Six Medals at Missouri Beer Cup

BLUE SPRINGS, MO – November 13, 2025 – East Forty Brewing is celebrating big after earning six medals at the inaugural Missouri Beer Cup, a statewide competition recognizing the best craft beers brewed in Missouri.

The downtown Blue Springs brewery earned Gold in the Wood and Barrel-Aged Beers category for its Where Angels Fear to Tread, Silvers in American Amber or Red/Vienna for Big Head Red, American-Style India Pale Ale for Right Track IPA, Porter for Second Breakfast Porter, and Fruit Beer for A Fistful of Island Vibes, plus a Bronze in the American-Style Märzen/Oktoberfest category for Oktoberfest.

Where Angels Fear to Tread (13.7% ABV) is a barrel-aged Imperial Stout and a companion to East Forty’s Fools Rush In. Aged for 12 months in J. Rieger & Co. whiskey barrels, it’s rich with flavors of chocolate, cherry, and vanilla—a full-bodied yet silky-smooth beer that rewards patience and craftsmanship.

To mark the release of this year’s version of the newly crowned Gold Medal-Winning Where Angels Fear to Tread, East Forty Brewing will host its annual Black FRI-day Event on Friday, November 28, from 12–11 PM. A long-standing East Forty tradition, the event features the release of this year’s stouts with draft and bomber bottle releases. The day also includes happy hour from 12–5 PM, live music from 7-10 PM, and exclusive pizza specials from the East Forty kitchen.

Organized by the Missouri Craft Brewers Guild, the Missouri Beer Cup is the state’s first professional competition dedicated exclusively to Missouri-made beer. This year, judges evaluated 181 beers across 36 categories, recognizing outstanding quality, style, and craftsmanship. “The Missouri Beer Cup is about more than medals. The craft brewing industry is driven by collaboration and centered around building community. This new annual competition is aimed to help breweries grow, showcase our state’s craft beer talent, and give beer lovers a chance to discover their new favorite Missouri-made beers,” said Sherry Wohlgemuth, Executive Director of the Missouri Craft Brewers Guild. The awards were presented on Monday, November 10, during the Guild’s Annual Conference at Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City.
